LaMont began working as an investigator in 1985, when he worked for his father, Willard (Bill) Bonham, a former Chicago Police Department Detective and owner of Advocate Investigations in Minocqua, WI. 

LaMont started working with his father in 1985 upon completing his tour of active duty with the United States Marine Corps. Working under the guidance and direction of his father for three years, LaMont started his own agency in 1988 when his father took a position as Chief Investigator for the Saline County Illinois. That agency was closed in late 1990 when LaMont was activated by the Marine Corps in support of operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Upon returning from Saudi Arabia LaMont was hired on as a staff investigator for the Jerome A. Maeder law firm,  listed as one of the top 3% of law firms in the nation by Martindale Hubble. This was one of the greatest learning experiences that any investigator could have had.While working at the Maeder Law Firm LaMont worked with many experts in many different fields in anticipation of litigation.

In 2001 LaMont left the Maeder Law Firm to start L.B. Investigations. In 2001 LaMont also retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a First Sergeant after serving his county for 21 years. Since that time LaMont has been working for many local attorneys, insurance companies and private individuals providing superior investigation needs for all those involved.
